Roofer in Weetwood
I work across Weetwood regularly, usually on repairs rather than full re-roofs. Most jobs here start as one slipped tile or a damp patch on a ceiling, and get sorted in a morning if somebody looks at them early enough.
Emergencies get made watertight first and repaired properly afterwards, on a dry day. Doing both in one wet visit is how a repair fails a year later, and I would rather come twice.

Why Weetwood roofs need pointing more than tiles
Between-the-wars semis make up most of what I look at here. Concrete tile, a hip at each end more often than not, deep overhangs, and a roof that has usually never been touched beyond the odd tile. The covering is rarely the thing that has failed.
Hips are the giveaway. A hipped roof has far more ridge line than a gabled one, all of it bedded in mortar, so there is simply more to fail and more to re-bed. It is a day or two of work and it gets quoted as a re-roof more often than it should.

A firm said my 1930s roof needs stripping. Does it?
Often not. On these houses the concrete tiles usually outlive the mortar holding the ridges, hips and verges, so what looks like a failing roof is a pointing job. Get a second opinion before agreeing to a re-roof, and ask them to show you a tile that has actually failed.
Are you insured?
Yes, fully insured for public liability. Ask to see the certificate and I will send it over before I start.
Will I be dealing with you or a salesman?
Me. I quote the job, I do the job, and I am the one you ring afterwards. No call centre and no lads you have never met on your roof.
Do you guarantee your work?
Yes. Guarantee length depends on the job and the materials, and it is written on the quote before you agree to anything.
How do I know if I need a repair or a whole new roof?
Age, spread and the state of the battens underneath. One slipped tile is a repair. Widespread slippage on a roof past fifty years old usually is not. I will tell you honestly which one you are looking at.
